 Kudos/Testimonials

Here, you'll find out what people are saying about Tim. Don't look for a lot of politicians on this page. Instead, you'll find regular people who know Tim and know his work. Through their words, you can come to know him, too.

  • "The teachers knew all the kids respected Tim because of his superior intellect and the fact he never shoved that down anyone's throat. Tim has always been a person who can talk to anybody on their level. He was never condescending or rude. He is, to this day, a common guy with incredible intelligence. The teachers recognized him as a leader who was not only respected, but well-liked, too."

    Kevin Codo, Joliet

  • You really want to know what I think (about Tim's columns)? I think they're great. I have to say, given that people are always giving me things of theirs to read that back me into impossible corners when responding, I was surprised to find I really, really liked your stuff. A couple of them sparked tears and a couple of them made me laugh out loud. I really admired the clarity of your writing, your ease of storytelling, your ability to be simple without being cliche and personal without being self-indulgent.

    Mary Schmich, Columnist-Chicago Tribune

  • "I've known Tim for over 30 years and consider him to be one of my closest and most loyal friends. A person that you can always count on and one that will always provide honest, unbiased feedback. Not only is he one of the brightest guys that I have ever known, but he has so many characteristics that contribute to him being about the most well-rounded human being I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  Great sense of humor, athletic, honest, sincere, witty, loyal and extremely humble. If he weren't a Democrat, he'd surely have my vote!!

    Mike Purviance, Lockport native

  • I've been friends with Tim for around as long as I
can remember. We now serve together on the Board of Directors at St. Joe's PONY Baseball. I just feel that Tim is a great guy. He is a kind person who is very unselfish and I'm happy to support in any way I can.

I always tell students to find the best inside themselves. Well, that's what Tim does in every pursuit he tackles. I've known him ever since he was a young teacher at Troy. He truly is a Renaissance man. He's a successful lawyer, and outstanding teacher, a talented musician and one of the most honest journalists this area has ever seen. He's an example of the best and brightest this community can produce. We don't get a chance to vote for someone like Tim very often. I, for one, am going to seize that opportunity.

I am elated to see one of Joliet's finest vying for
the Democratic nomination for Will County Judge. Not only have I seen
Tim's career advance in a manner we would all be proud of, I
personally endorse Tim as the Democratic nominee for Will County Judge. I am
sure other candidates are qualified, but I believe Tim would be our
best representative basd on my research.

                                    Eric Beltzhoover, Owner--Thirty Buck

"Your concert just blew my mind. How do you get so much out of the kids after such a short time?  They were superb. Your choice of music can't be beat.  It just pleases everyone.  You must put your heart and soul into your work."

Mary Crimaldi, grandmother of one of Tim's students on the December 2007 Drauden Point choir concert.

"This is strong, honest and brave writing that will stay with readers for a long time."

The Chicago Headline Club, in awarding Tim the 2007 Peter Lisagor Award for column writing.

"Tim Placher is one of the most intellectually sophisticated people I have had the chance to meet. Tim was the Salutatorian of the Joliet Catholic High School class of 1979. With those credentials he could have gone to any University of his choosing. He chose to attend the College of St. Francis. This was the beginning of Tim committing his adulthood to his family, friends and community.  From that day he has dedicated himself to making the Joliet community a better place. He has educated its children, worked in its courts, directed choirs, filled its churches with his musical skills and has written some of the most pertinent newspaper articles I have ever read. We should feel blessed he is now offering himself to us in such an important civic duty. There is no better way for us to enhance the quality of life in the Joliet community than by electing Tim Placher a Will County judge."

                                                   Andrew Ndoca, Joliet native

All I can say is that if people want a genuine guy who is smart, has good values, a good sense of humor and one who really cares about the people and the place he lives in, then YOU DA MAN!

                                          Anne Cross, former Joliet resident
